On June 9th, the Marine Conservation Alliance will host an evening session on bycatch science and technology. The session’s purpose is to shares ideas, strategies, and factors behind bycatch occurrences in North Pacific and Bering Sea fisheries and we hope this is the first of many discussions to come. In the interest of beginning this discussion, MCA will present a handful of tools used to date, including gear technology, area-based management measures, and the role of fishery institutional structures, like catch shares. We hope you will join us and share your knowledge. |
